Dr. Amy Chalfin

Dr. Amy Heaney Chalfin is a seasoned veterinarian with 20 + years of experience in the Toledo area. She is a Toledo native, attending Bowsher High School & Wittenberg University before graduating from The Ohio State University in 1995 with a DVM degree. She has worked in small animal practice & in emergency medicine excelling in surgery, dentistry, and emergency techniques.

Dr. Chalfin comes to us most recently from Stautzenberger College where she has been helping to educate veterinary technician candidates in the Northwest Ohio area. She states: “My technicians over the years have been more than techs; they have been my right arm and my brain on occasion. I cannot be a successful veterinarian without RVT’s. I teach so that I can give back to this field and to help instill excellence in future technicians.”

Dr. Chalfin remarried so many in Toledo knew her as Dr. Phillips. She has two grown daughters and a beautiful (but crazy) English Setter named Phoenix.

Awards & Service

While at Ohio State she was awarded the small animal surgery award. She is active in community service through her church and has done some small animal veterinary mission work with CVM.

Dr. Chalfin is excited to be on the team at St. Francis because they offer the opportunity to be progressive and practice veterinary medicine in all of its facets. As an avid learner this attitude of our practice appeals to her.
